Direct TV an Alternative to Cable TV

We have been wanting to get away from Comcast cable for quite a while. The issue is they suck you in with their packages that include telepone, high speed internet, and TV service. When you need to remove one of these, you miss out on the savings of the package.

But the cable television setup just needs to go, as the service and quality is well below average. With so much talk today about high definition, there isn’t much of that with Charter Cable. So I started researching who else was available in my area.

I happen to be one of the individuals who have a few choices. Unlike a few people who can only pick from either the cable company or Direct TV satellite service, I have a third provider in my region. The phone company in my neighborhood has been altering their network. Now there is another consideration with Verizon and their FiOS service.

That doesn’t of course mean I won’t have the same problems. It could put me in the same situation as with the cable company, because telephone company want customers to package their television setup with internet and voice service. If the service is good, I’ll be happy. But if its not you’re in the same circumstance that we all hate, being stuck with cable TV that isn’t all that great.  So I’m doing a side by side comparison, cable vs Direct TV so I make the right choice.

The reviews I found are fairly good on telecom TV service. Because it is brand new, there is sometimes a learning curve with a new technology like this, and some clients write bad reviews. Those reviews are the funny, simply for the reason customers decide to write a bad review on their poor experience and post it on the web. Unhappy customers badmouth the company like it is some giant conspiracy to screw the customer, as if the corporation does not want our money!

Another option I am seriously considering is of course satellite television. Because we have six television viewers in our house, we have subscribed in the past to a high end TV package. The satellite TV choices are pretty even, as the Premier DirecTV package and the America’s Everything Pak by Dish Network are each about $110 a month. Sure that’s fairly high for pay television, but if you compare that to taking your family to dinner and a show, the entertainment value is comparable. Some of my family speak Spanish, so the DIRECTV Mas programming package looks like a winner. The nice thing is that there are plenty of DirecTV pros and cons to help me decide which direction to take.
